Feeding mechanism of amoeba.

-Method of engulfing food is called "Phagocytosis".
Amoeba approaches the food particles.
- Two pseudopodia or 'false feet' extend out and enclose the food particles.
-The food particles are packaged in a food vacuole which fuses with a lysosome
containing a hydrolytic enzyme called lysozyme.
- The food particles are digested by lysozyme.
The resulting nutrients diffuse into cytoplasm and assilimated.
-Undigested food is left behind when the amoeba moves away
